Hanoi - Ba Be national park - Cao Bang - Lang Son - Halong - Hanoi
The North - East Vietnam adventure offers you a great adventure due to the condition of the road, in contrast, there are plenty of beautiful landscapes; villages of tribal peoples; Babe lake; national park; beautiful caves and cruise on a junk along the emerauld water of Halong bay.
Day 1 (L,D): Hanoi- Thai Nguyen - Ba Be national park (250km/7hrs).7:30am - Depart Hanoi for a drive through the Red River Delta north along Highway 3 to Thai Nguyen. Of interest here is the Museum of the Cultures of Vietnam's Ethnic Groups. Leaving the delta behind, you'll start climbing into the mountainous area of Ba Be National Park. Dinner and homestay in a local house.
Day 2 (B,L,D): Boat trip in Ba Be lake - Drive to Cao Bang (120km/3hrs).Ba Be lake, surrounded by rugged limestone mountains, is Vietnam's only natural mountain lake. This important Eco-system is well known for over 330 species of butterflies! Have breakfast with your Tay hosts before exploring the lake with lush forest clinging to the surrounding mountains. Reach the end of the lake and trek to Dau Dang Waterfall, back to the boat boat station. The car pick up for heading north through the mountains to the city of Cao Bang.

Day 3 (B,L,D): Cao Bang - Ban Gioc Waterfall - Cao Bang (100km/3 hours).Take a scenic day trip north of Cao Bang to the beautiful Ban Gioc Waterfall on the Chinese border. This picturesque, cascading waterfall is 53 meters high and has an impressive span of 300 meters. The unique landscape includes limestone karst formations soaring from the verdant rice paddies of Tay, H'Mong and Dzao ethnic minority groups. On the way back to Cao Bang, explore the expansive 2,144 meter Nguom Ngao Cavern to discover its brilliant stalactites.

Day 4 (B,L,D): Cao Bang - Lang Son (150km/3hrs).Before departing Cao Bang, consider climbing the hill up to the War Memorial for a great panoramic view. The famous Highway 4 winds its way through steep mountain passes with spectacular vistas! Lang Son, the capital of this mountainous area, is an important crossing and trading route with China. The area is home to Dzao, Man,Tho and Nung ethnic minority groups. Lang Son has two markets, the Old Market and the Dong Kinh Market, where shoppers can find everything from electronics and gadgets to textiles and house wares. Just a couple of kilometers from town are two large, beautiful caves and the ruins of the Mac Dynasty Citadel that are worth a visit. Tam Thanh Cave contains a pond and offers great views of the surrounding farmlands. Nhi Thanh Cave, formed by the river that flows through it, has poems carved into the entrance by the man who discovered the cave in the 18th century.

Day 5 (B,L,D): Lang Son - Halong bay (200km/4hrs).After Breakfast drive from Lang Son to Halong city. Arrive in Ha Long city around lunch time, go directly to the tourist harbor and board the Junk. Check in. Have lunch then cruise to visit Ha Long Bay, Sung Sot cave, Ti Top Beach, enjoy sunset, drinks. Have dinner on the junk, and overnight on the junk. ( Optional : Kayaking ).
Day 6 (B,L): Halong bay - Hanoi (160km/3hrs).Have breakfast. Visit man's head island, Tortoise island, Toad island, Bai tho mountain. Have lunch on the junk. Back to Ha Long wharf. Car trip back to Ha Noi . End the trip.
